SYMPTOMS
If you disconnect and then reconnect a Universal Serial Bus (USB) network adapter on a host computer, client computers may not be able to gain access to shared folders on that host.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the network adapter is stopped and started too quickly.
NOTE: The Vserver.vxd file tries to register a NetBIOS name when the name is being deleted. The ADDNAME NCB does not work because the name still exists in the name table.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

This fix forces Vserver to wait for the Add name process to complete before it continues.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows 98 Second Edition.

For example, if you are using the Intel USB Anypoint Phoneline home Network for peer-to-peer networking and you unplug the USB network adapter from the computer, and then plug it in again, the computer is no longer accessible for file sharing on the network. You can ping the friendly name or IP address. Restart the computer to reset the shared folder.
