Error Message: Application Manager Cannot Install This Application on Your Mobile Device

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Windows Media Player on a mobile device, you may encounter one of the following error messages:

Application Manager cannot install this application for your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again.

-or-

Microsoft Windows Media Player does not support the connected device type. Application Manager will make the application available for installation when a supported device type is connected.

CAUSE

These error messages are generated when an unsupported mobile device is attempting to install Windows Media Player.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure your mobile device is a supported device for Windows Media Player. Currently, the supported devices are:

Casio E-100 and E-105
Hewlett-Packard Jornada 430
Compaq 1500 and 2100 series
