WebTV Icon Missing After Upgrading Windows 98 to Windows 2000

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

After you upgrade your Windows 98-based computer to Windows 2000, the Microsoft WebTV icon is no longer on the taskbar. Also, the WebTV component remains visible in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, but you can only remove this component.

This issue occurs because Windows 2000 Setup removes this icon. This occurs because Windows 2000 does not support or include the WebTV tool.

This behavior is by design.
