SYMPTOMS
When you view the Application event log on a computer that you upgrade from Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) to the retail version of Windows 2000, you may see several event ID 37s with the following parameters:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 37
Date: 2/7/2000
Time: 10:05:55 AM
User: N/A
Computer: [machinename]
Description: WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because of a problem in the WMI Performance Library dredger. In certain situations, the dredger incorrectly determines that a library is invalid even though the counter works correctly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, run one of the following commands on the computer to dredge the status data again, where processID is the processID of the running Winmgmt process in the second example:
winmgmt /clearadap
-or-
winmgmt /resyncperf -p processID
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in pre-released versions of Microsoft Windows 2000.
