MS-DOS

Problem: Multiplan allows me to save a file with a space in the file name. For example, I can save a Multiplan file with the name “tes t.mp”. However, DOS will not allow this file to be copied.

Response: This problem revolves around a DOS restriction that does not allow spaces in file names for purposes of copying, erasing, etc. If you load the file back into Multiplan, you then can save it under a different file name with no space. Another workaround is to use the DOS Rename command to give the file a name that does not include a space. If the file currently has the name “tes t.mp”, type “rename tes?t.mp test.mp” at the DOS prompt. The file then will have the name “test.mp” instead of “tes t.mp”.
