XWEB: Outlook Web Access Default Start Time of New Appointment Is the Current Time of Day

Q255426

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When using Microsoft Exchange 2000 Outlook Web Access (OWA) with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 to create a new appointment for any day other than the current day, the default start time is set to the current time of day.

WORKAROUND

Be sure to verify the Start Time of a new calendar item before saving it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use OWA with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than Internet Explorer 5, the default start time is the beginning of the Work Day setting. In Microsoft Outlook, the default start time is also the beginning of the Work Day.

In Outlook, you find this setting on the Calendar Options dialog box, which is found by clicking Options on the Tools menu.

In OWA, you find this setting under Calendar Options which is found by clicking Options from the left pane, and scrolling the right pane to Calendar Options.

This difference may cause confusion when creating calendar items, and you may inadvertently set an incorrect start time.
