WORKAROUND

Only restore databases from one storage group at a time. Even if the backup contains databases from multiple storage groups, if you only restore databases from one storage group, the restore process finishes successfully and the databases start.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

In the temporary directory that you specified during the restore process, only .pat and .log files from one storage group are present. If you dump the Restore.env file, it will indicate that no databases or log files were restored.
