SYMPTOMS

If you link or embed a Visio object in a Microsoft Word 97 document, change the size of the object, and then open it in Visio to modify it, the object reverts to its original size after you quit Visio.

RESOLUTION

To solve the problem, obtain and install the most up-to-date service release for Word 97. To temporarily work around the problem:

  1. Open the Word document.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the View tab, under Show, click Field Codes, and then click OK.

NOTE: If the field codes do not appear, right-click the Visio object, and then click Format Object. In the Format Object dialog box, click the Position tab, click to clear the Float Over Text check box, and then click OK.

  1. In each INCLUDEPICTURE field code in the Word document, delete the \d switch.
  2. While the insertion point is still within the field code, press F9 to update the field.
