SUMMARY

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, you can create public folders in the Exchange System Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in as well as in a client. The difference is that in Exchange System Manager, you cannot specify the function of the folder.

For example, when you create the folder in Exchange System Manager, you cannot specify that it be an appointments folder, contacts folder, journal items folder, and so on. To specify folder type, you must create the public folder from within a client.
