This article was previously published under Q254581

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Visio diagram that contains a VNE shape as an HTML file and then view it in a Web browser, the hyperlink associated with the VNE shape may appear to have moved.

CAUSE

When you save a Visio diagram as an HTML file, the hyperlink is associated with the text block. For a VNE shape, the text block is often to the right or below the shape.

RESOLUTION

After you insert the hyperlink, move the text control handle to move the location of the hyperlink.

To move a VNE shape hyperlink:

  1. Right-click the shape, and then click Show Text Control Handle.

The text control handle appears in the text block.

  1. Drag the text control handle to where you want the hyperlink to appear.

TIP: Drag the text control handle to the center of the shape to place the hyperlink in the HTML document in the center of the shape.

  1. On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the file as an HTML document.
  2. Find the HTML file, and then open it.

When the HTML file appears in your Web browser, the hyperlink appears where you placed the text control handle in step 2.

MORE INFORMATION

Not all grouped shapes have hyperlinks that appear to have moved. Although a hyperlink may also appear to have moved for other grouped shapes, it is most noticeable with VNE shapes.
