SYMPTOMS
After you install the International English version of Service Release C (Business Bonus Pack) for Visio 5.0, you receive the following error message when you try to run Visio:
After you receive this error message, you cannot run Visio.
CAUSE
The error occurs if you downloaded and installed a corrupted International English version of the Service Release C file over Visio 5.0b. The corrupted file was available on the Visio Web site for several hours on 22 October 1998.
NOTE: If you installed Service Release C over Visio 5.0 or 5.0a you will not experience this error. However, Microsoft recommends that you also restore the earlier version of Visio.
RESOLUTION
To resolve the problem, you must restore the earlier version of Visio.
To restore the earlier version of Visio:
- Uninstall Visio.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab of the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select Visio, and then click Add/Remove.
- Reinstall your earlier version of Visio.
If your earlier version was 5.0a or 5.0b, you must first install Visio 5.0 and then install Service Release A or B. (If Visio 5.0b was your earlier version, you do not need to install both service release files. Service Release B includes all of the Visio 5.0a and 5.0b updates.)
MORE INFORMATION
This problem does not occur when you install Service Release C from the CD or the service release file currently available on the Visio Web site. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
