SUMMARY

All Microsoft SideWinder game controllers are compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP.

All versions of the Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller 4.0 software will display a message that is similar to the following:

Setup has detected you are running Windows 2000. SideWinder Game Controller Software 4.0 was designed to run on Windows 98. If you continue setup, all features may not function as expected and this software may not function properly.

Would you like to continue Setup anyway?

You can click Yes or click No.

If you click Yes, you receive the following error message:

Digital Signature Not Found

The Microsoft digital signature affirms that software has been tested with Windows and that the software has not been altered since it was tested.

The software you are about to install does not contain a Microsoft digital signature. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this software works correctly with Windows.

If you want to search for Microsoft digitally signed software, visit the Windows Update Web site at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to see if one is available.

If you click No, Setup quits and you return to the desktop.

SideWinder Game Controller Software 4.0 was designed and shipped before the retail releases of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. No updates to the SideWinder 4.0 exist beyond what was originally shipped. Although the software can install and can run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP, doing so is not supported by Microsoft Product Support and you may experience errors and other issues.
