SYMPTOMS
When you use the Outlook object model to set the Body property of an Outlook item, objects in the body of the item may be deleted in some cases, but not others.
NOTE: This article applies to all objects that are pasted into the body of the message or inserted by using the Insert Object command. It does not apply to file attachments, which are typically inserted using the Insert File command.
CAUSE
Outlook's behavior varies depending on whether or not an item has been saved. If an item is saved, objects are saved as hidden attachments, and if you set the Body property of an item, it does not remove these saved attachments.
NOTE: If you publish a form with an embedded object in the body of the item, Outlook also stores the objects as hidden attachments. Therefore an unsaved item that is based on a custom form behaves the same way as a saved item that uses the default form.

This behavior occurs with items that have the body formatted as rich text. You may experience different behavior if you are using mail messages formatted in HTML or plain text formats, or if you are using Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor.
