SYMPTOMS
In German Word 97, when you save a document in Word 6.0/95 format and the document contains smart quotation marks, the smart quotation marks appear as English smart quotation marks when you reopen the document.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
