OL2000: Error in Outlprnt when You Define Print Style or Printing

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print or define a print style in Microsoft Outlook, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Unable to save the printer settings. Make sure the file c:\windows\outlprnt is not missing or write protected.

-or-


Error c:\windows\outlprnt is missing.

-or-


Out of Resources.

-or-


Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows and try again.

CAUSE

These messages can occur with certain virus protection programs that do not enable file creation in the Windows folder, or prevent writing to .ini files.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, create a Microsoft Word document named Outlprnt.doc, and save the file in the Application Data folder.

NOTE: You may have to type an <X> or other data into the file so that it is not empty.

C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
