SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to install Windows 2000 by using the Windows 2000 upgrade CD-ROM, Setup prompts you for the CD-ROM of a previous version of Windows NT to confirm that you are upgrading. However, the Windows 2000 compliance checking feature does not recognize the BackOffice 4.5, Chinese Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, or Korean Windows NT 4.0 Workstation CD-ROM as valid media.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the BackOffice 4.5 CD-ROM does not contain the MIPS or PPC folders that are contained on the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, please copy the Setupdd.sys file from the Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 CD-ROM to the second boot disk or to the distribution share point. To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
