SUMMARY
In Windows 2000, installing Network Monitor does not add the Network Segment object in System Monitor as in Microsoft Windows NT.
MORE INFORMATION
To increase the stability and reliability of the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) interface, this object has been removed from System Monitor in the Performance tool in Windows 2000.
You can obtain statistics about most of the counters under this object programmatically by using the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows 2000. Some of the functions and program structures that help provide similar information are listed later in this article. You also need to verify that the Npptools.dll file is installed before you can use these functions:
IStats::Start
IStats::GetTotalStatistics
GetNPPBlobTable
