SYMPTOMS

Loading an Extensible Markup Language (XML) document with the Microsoft MSXML ActiveX object causes the following error message to appear:

OLE error code 0X00000001: Incorrect function



CAUSE

The XML document is formatted incorrectly.



RESOLUTION

Make sure the XML document meets the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) requirements for a well formed document or a valid XML document. The requirements can be found on the following Web site:

  1. Install the MSXML parser from the following Web address:
  2. Create an incorrectly formed XML document from the XML code below:
  3. Create a Microsoft Visual FoxPro program file with the following code, and then run the program:
