When you make changes to an HTML page in the FrontPage HTML view, the changes may be lost when you view the page in Preview and then return to HTML view. This happens in HTML pages that FrontPage opens in Preservation Mode (when the page is opened automatically in HTML view).

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

245025 OFF2000: How to Obtain and Install Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a)

After you install Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1), the Preview tab will be unavailable when you open a page that FrontPage opens in Preservation Mode. This prevents you from going into Preview after you make changes directly to the HTML that would be lost when you go back to HTML view. You can still edit the page in HTML mode and change to Normal mode.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
