SUMMARY

You can raise or lower the level of a block of headings, maintaining the hierarchy of each heading, when in the outline view of a document. You must be in the Outline Edit mode of Word versions 3.x, or the Outline Organize mode of Word versions 4.00 and 5.00.

Move your cursor to the top of the block you want to raise and press the EXTEND (F6) key. This action will select all levels subordinate to the level you are currently on. To raise the level of the block of headings, press ALT+9; to lower the level of the block of headings, press ALT+0 (zero).
