This article was previously published under Q253560

SYMPTOMS

When you use a 16-bit version of Microsoft Excel to paste a link from Microsoft PowerPoint 4.3, which is also a 16-bit program, and you then click the link, the link works. However, when you move the 16-bit PowerPoint file to a different directory and you try to activate the link again, an error message appears in PowerPoint 4.3, stating that the initial path contains an invalid file name. The link does eventually open.

This occurs on a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional when the 16-bit programs contain files that were saved under the NTFS file system.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
