SYMPTOMS
When you start the Services snap-in and attempt to start the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server information store on a server that has several Storage Groups and databases, you may receive the following error message:
The service may display a status of Starting.
CAUSE
This message indicates that the Services snap-in has waited for 120 seconds. If the store service is started after a crash, soft recovery runs serially on each database in the Storage Group, and this can lead to a slow startup. The service will start after recovery is complete.
MORE INFORMATION
When you type the following command at a command prompt, Microsoft Windows 2000 waits indefinitely until either the service starts or the service returns an error:
net start msexchangeis
