When you boot a computer with a Remote Boot Floppy Generator-created boot disk in preparation for a remote installation by using a Remote Installation service (RIS) server, the following error message may be displayed:

UNDI initialize failed, no media detected
Press a key to reboot system

This error message can occur if no network adapter is detected in the computer, or if no connection to the network is detected when the network adapter is initialized.

To resolve this issue, perform network troubleshooting on the hardware. Check the network adapter, cable, cable type, hub, router, and so on. Also check the computer's BIOS settings to make sure that the network adapter is enabled (if the network adapter is of the onboard type).

This behavior is by design.
