Error Message When You Try to Delete or Rename a Shortcut or Modify its Properties

SYMPTOMS

When you try to delete or rename a shortcut, or modify its properties, you may receive one of the following error messages:

  • Cannot update the properties for this program. The Shortcut or PIF may be read only, or another program may be modifying them. Close all copies of this program, and then try again.

    Error renaming file. Cannot rename {file name} : Access is denied.

    Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

    Cannot update the properties of this PIF file.

    Cannot delete {file name} : Access is denied.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you have a damaged installation of the ZipMagic 2000 program.
