When you open a file on your desktop that you received using the Infrared File Transfer program (IrFTP.exe), you may receive the following error message:

Access to the specified device, path or file is denied.

== CAUSE ==

This issue can occur because IrFTP, which starts as a system process, creates the received file in its temporary folder, and then calls MoveFile() to move it to its final destination. The resulting access rights for the received files are Change for the Power Users group and Full Control for the Administrator group and the local computer.

== RESOLUTION ==

To resolve this issue, add the user to the Power Users group.

== STATUS ==

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
