OL2000: Roles Are Incorrectly Assigned to the Default Users

SYMPTOMS

When you set permissions for an Outlook folder, you may assign a role to the default user and not to the user name that you added.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the default setting is automatically selected when you return to the Properties dialog box.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Outlook Service Release that contains this hotfix.
