Article ID: 252631

Article Last Modified on 2/26/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q252631

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to schedule an online conference with Microsoft Outlook 2000, nothing happens. There are no indications that the conference has been booked successfully, no error messages are displayed, nor are any application events generated indicating that problems have occurred.

The only message returned to the user is the following:

"Please select an Exchange Conference resource"

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the user attempting to book the conference does not have sufficient permissions to perform this action.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, assign Author permissions to the default account for the conferencing resource, which provides a global setting for all authenticated users. Otherwise, an administrator can designate specific accounts, granting them Author permissions against the mailbox.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
