Fatal Exception Error Message When Attempting to Connect to the Internet

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to connect to the Internet, your computer may generate the following error message:

Fatal Exception 06 has occurred at 0028:c008ad6a in VxD HookTDI (01) + 00002FE2.

The current application will be terminated.

CAUSE

This issue can occur after you uninstall the Junior Net Firewall program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of the Junior Net Firewall program to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type system.ini, and then click OK.
  2. In the [386enh] section, type a semi-colon before the following line:

    Device=C:\progra~1\junior~1\jrfrwall.vxd

  3. On the File menu, click Save, quit any running programs, and then restart your computer.
