SUMMARY

By default, there is no method of sorting users into recipient policies based upon their Administrative Group. However, you can create a search by creating a custom LDAP query, as described in the "More Information" section.

Using the Exchange System Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, create a new recipients policy:

1. In the Find Exchange Recipient window, click Custom Search from the Find menu.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Enter LDAP Query box, type an LDAP query specifying the Administration Group you want to sort. The base query is

   (&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/o=Org/ou=AdminGroup/*))

   Where /o=Org is your organization, and /ou=AdminGroup is the Administration Group that you are sorting.
   
   For example, a query for the First Administration Group would look like the following:

   (&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/o=Organization/ou=First Administration Group/*))

Whenever an Exchange object is created in Active Directory, an attribute called legacyExchangeDN is assigned. The legacyExchangeDN attribute still maps a site object, and because Sites and Administration Groups have a 1:1 mapping, the recipients policy will affect all users within a specified Administration Group.

The queries are based on Request for Comments (RFC) 2254.
