XADM: Active Directory Connector Does Not Create Contacts in Active Directory

Article ID: 252269

Article Last Modified on 10/27/2006

APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q252269

SUMMARY

When you are choosing a Recipients container and replicating objects into a specific organizational unit (OU) within a domain, contacts may not be created for some Exchange Server 5.5 objects.

MORE INFORMATION

If an Exchange Server 5.5 mailbox is associated with an Active Directory object in Domain 2, and the Connection Agreement is set up to replicate into an OU in Domain 1, a Contact is not created and the two objects may not be merged. The reason, the Active Directory Connector (ADC) reads the Global Catalog before creating Contacts (or whatever it may be set to); it is aware of the Active Directory object that is associated with the Exchange Server 5.5 mailbox. However, if the ADC account does not have rights to Domain 2, it cannot merge or replicate updates to this object. If the ADC is aware of the object, it will not create a Contact as this would be a duplicate.
