Word 3.x: Serial Interface Flag

PSS ID Number: Q25214 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

3.x

MS-DOS

Question:

After converting my PRD to text using MAKEPRD, I notice that the serial-interface flag in the header is not set to 0. I am using a parallel printer. Do I need to change the setting of the serial- interface flag for my printer to work properly?

Response:

No. The serial-interface flag is used when the printer is connected to a serial port. When a COM port is specified in the Print Options Setup field, Word refers to the serial-interface flag to determine what type of protocol to use. This value is ignored when the printing device is parallel.
