XFOR: Lotus Notes Users Unable to Respond to Exchange Meeting Request

Article ID: 252107

Article Last Modified on 2/26/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q252107

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, when you send a meeting request to a Lotus Notes R5 user, and you manually address that Notes user as a resource, the Notes user is unable to respond to the meeting request.

The Notes user receives the message as a regular meeting invitation, but the message does not contain Respond, Respond with Comments, Request Information or Check Calendar radio buttons. Therefore, the Notes user is unable to reply to the message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

If you enter the Lotus Notes user's address in the Required or Optional boxes of a meeting request message, when the Notes user receives the message, the radio buttons are displayed, and the Notes user is able to respond.

If you send a meeting request to a Notes R5 resource that has an Automated Agent, that Notes Automated Agent responds to the invitation correctly.

This behavior does not occur with Lotus Notes R4. When Notes R4 users receive meeting invitations from Exchange (and are designated as a resource), they are able to respond to the invitation.
