XADM: Unwanted Global Address Lists Must Be Removed When Creating a New Offline Address List

Article ID: 252044

Article Last Modified on 2/27/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q252044

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new offline address list, all global address lists are included by default. You must remove all unwanted global address lists from the New Object - Offline Address List dialog box rather than adding the global address lists you want in the offline address list to the list.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The default values should be applicable to as many users as possible. It is unlikely that you will want to create an offline address list with no users in it, so the dialog box should be populated by default with at least one address list. The default global address list may not be accessible because it can be deleted, renamed, or have its permissions modified. Instead of trying to choose which would be the best address list to add, Exchange 2000 adds all address lists in the site to the Create New Address Book dialog box.
