SUMMARY

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, when you are setting delivery restrictions on a user, public folders show up in the restrictions list.

This feature is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

To set up delivery restrictions on a mailbox:

  1. Start Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. Bring up the properties on a user who has a mailbox.
  3. Click the Exchange General tab.
  4. Click the Delivery Restrictions button.
  5. Under the Message Restrictions section, click either Only From or From Everyone Except, and then click Add.

If a public folder has been set up as a moderated public folder, or has a rule acting against it, the folder can send mail. A user can also send mail as the folder if the user has Send As rights. In these circumstances, the folder can send mail. and you may want to set up restrictions on which users can receive mail from that folder.

In Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, when you view the delivery restrictions on a specific mailbox, you do not see public folders unless you make them visible in the Address Book first.
