SYMPTOMS

When you create a new mailbox or add a new proxy address on the Address Space tab of a connector on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, the proxy addresses do not appear immediately.

WORKAROUND

To work around this latency, follow these steps:

  1. In Exchange System Manager, expand the Recipients container.
  2. Click Recipient Update Services.
  3. Right-click the appropriate Recipient Update Service option in the right pane, and then click Update Now.

This should trigger the immediate update of the proxy addresses.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The Address List Service stamps the proxy addresses for the Exchange 2000 mailboxes. The changes appear about a minute or so later.
