XFOR: Lotus Notes R5 Client Does Not Receive Tracking Message Response from Exchange 2000

Article ID: 251905

Article Last Modified on 2/26/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q251905

SYMPTOMS

When you use Lotus Notes R5 client and you try to track a message sent to an Exchange 2000 user through the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes, you do not receive any Tracking Response.

The Exchange 2000 recipient receives a message in the Inbox with a subject similar to the following:

Message Tracking ->subject

CAUSE

Message tracking is a new feature with Lotus Notes R5. The Connector for Lotus Notes does not recognize this feature and treats a tracking message just like an ordinary message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

In Notes, message tracking responses are sent back from the mail router and not from the user mailbox. Because the Connector for Lotus Notes does not recognize this feature, it delivers the message to the Exchange 2000 user instead of sending a message tracking response back to the sender.
