APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q251903

SYMPTOMS

In Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, if you use negative, or below-minimum values in the Maximum number of scheduled connections value for data conferencing, or in the Maximum number of conference participants value for video conferencing, you receive a dialog box that prompts you for a valid entry.

CAUSE

Exchange 2000 Conference Server does not allow negative, or below-minimum values for the Maximum number of scheduled connections value for data conferencing, or for the Maximum number of conference participants value for video conferencing.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use a value that falls within the allowable range. For the Data Conferencing Provider, the allowable range for the maximum number of scheduled connections is from 1 to 999999. For the Video Conferencing Provider, the allowable range for the maximum number of conference participants is from 1 to 9999.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conference Server.

MORE INFORMATION

For example:

  1. In Exchange System Manager, under Administrative Group, right-click Conferencing, and then click Manage.
  2. Click the Conferencing Management site from the drop-down list.
  3. Change the value for either data, or video conferencing:
    • Data: Right-click the Data Conferencing Provider, click Properties, and then delete the contents of the value Maximum number of scheduled connections; in its place, enter the number "0" or a negative number.
    • Video: Right-click the Video Conferencing Provider, click Properties, and then delete the contents of the value Maximum number of conference participants; in its place, enter the number "0" or a negative number.

If you place a negative value, this changes to a value of zero, but when focus is changed from the field, you are instructed to use a value from the allowable range.
