Article ID: 251762

Article Last Modified on 2/21/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q251762

SYMPTOMS

If you install the Windows 2000 Server Active Directory Connector (ADC), create a connection agreement, and then replicate with an Exchange Server 5.5 computer on which Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1 is installed, a memory leak may occur on the Exchange Server computer.

CAUSE

Although Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1 is the minimum requirement for Windows 2000 Server ADC to replicate, this issue can occur if you use the Windows Challenge/Response method of authentication in the Connection Agreement.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, either install Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 2 or later on the Exchange Server 5.5 computer, or use the Basic Clear Text authentication method in the Connection Agreement.
