PI2000: Picture Becomes Blurred When You Apply Edge Effects

Article ID: 251319

Article Last Modified on 3/24/2001

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Picture It! 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q251319

SYMPTOMS

When you apply an edge effect to a picture in Microsoft Picture It! 2000, the picture may become blurred. This behavior can occur regardless of the edge effect that you apply.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

The internal mechanism that applies the edge effect softens the image.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, you can apply the Sharpen special effect to improve the image quality.

Although sharpening the image helps, the original quality of the image is lost, and no matter how much sharpening you apply, the image is still softened.
