SYMPTOMS

When you manually hyphenate German-language words, two question marks may appear instead of the hyphen in the hyphenated word.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when all of the following conditions are true:

  • You are using pre-reform spelling rules.


-and-

  • You chose to place a hyphen in the letter combination "ck".


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
