SYMPTOMS

When you type the first letter of an e-mail recipient's name in the To box of a new e-mail message, Outlook Express does not get the name from the Windows Address Book in alphabetical order.

CAUSE

The name is automatically completed in the To box based on the first recipient that you entered in your Microsoft Windows Address Book whose name begins with that letter.

MORE INFORMATION

Outlook Express 5 uses a "first in, first out" method to resolve entries from the Windows Address Book. For example, if you create Windows Address Book entries for "Ann," "Alice," and "Abe" (in that order) and you then type the letter a in the To box, the address resolves to "Ann" even though "Abe" and "Alice" come before "Ann" in an alphabetical list.
