SYMPTOMS
When you right-click an image in Microsoft Internet Explorer, click Save Picture As, and save the image, the file name extension is missing when the file is saved.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the file name has multiple periods. When a file name in the File name box contains a period (.), Windows Millennium uses the text after the last period as the extension of the file, regardless of the information in the Save As Type box.
For example, if you save the image Mscom.w2000.site., with a .jpg extension appearing in the Save as type box, Mscom.w2000.site is the resulting file name, and the .jpg extension is missing.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, add the proper extension to the file name in the File name box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
