SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a file in Microsoft Word 97 Service Release 2 (SR2) by typing an Internet URL in the Open box from the File menu, Word starts the Web browsing capability, displays the Web page, and then displays the following message:

"Microsoft Word: The windows registry has reported that one or more required files are damaged or missing. To correct this problem, run the Word setup program."

If you disregard the error message, the file appears to open correctly.

STATUS
