Article ID: 250517

Article Last Modified on 10/23/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows Media Services 4.1

This article was previously published under Q250517

SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Media server, if you configure a multicast station and start the program, you may receive the following error in the stream status:

Error: (0x8007274d)

CAUSE

You may see this error if the Windows Media server's program cannot connect to the Windows Media Encoder. This may be due to network problems or because the encoder is configured with a port that is different than the server's stream source port, or because the Windows Media Encoder is not running.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, make sure that the Windows Media Encoder is running.

Check the port number that the encoder is using for the stream. This port number is listed at the bottom of the encoder in the stream reference section. Also check the port number in the Windows Media Administrator for the multicast station’s stream source. The port number for the stream source on the server and on the encoder should be the same.

Make sure that the network between the encoder and server is reliable.
