OL2000: (CW) Differential Synchronization Downloads Entire Offline Address Book

SYMPTOMS

Downloading incremental changes to the Offline Address Book (OAB) if there are no changes, invalidates the current OAB forcing a download of the entire OAB.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.

MORE INFORMATION

If the Microsoft Exchange Server generates an Offline Address Book (OAB) differential file with no changes, and the user synchronizes the OAB only applying changes, the OAB files are marked as corrupt and the user must download the entire OAB.
