OL2000: Moderated Folders Do Not Synchronize While Working Offline

SYMPTOMS

If you set up a moderated public folder, add it to the Favorites folder, make it available for offline use, post a message to it while you are offline, and then try to synchronize all folders, you receive the following error message:

Error in Background Synchronizing. See detailed log in Detailed Items Folder

If you look at the log message in the Detailed Items folder you see synchronization failed while attempting to synchronize the moderated folder. The log message will resemble the following:

15:22:41 Synchronizing Folder <moderated folder>

15:22:42 Error synchronizing message <test>

15:22:42         [80004005-501-0-324]

15:22:42         The client operation failed.

15:22:42         Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store

15:22:42 Error synchronizing folder

15:22:42         [80004005-501-0-324]

15:22:42         The client operation failed.

15:22:42         Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store

                

The <moderated folder> in the log is the name of the moderated folder to synchronize.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
