SUMMARY

You cannot change the icons on the Outlook Bar. The icons will always be set to the default icon for the particular type of object the shortcut points to.

Typical scenarios where you might want to change the Outlook Bar icons include:

  • Having different icons for different Web pages. The icon of the default Web browser displays by default.
  • Having different icons for different team folders. The Outlook icon corresponding to the type of team folder being used displays by default.
  • Having different icons for different Digital Dashboards. The Outlook icon corresponding to the type of folder the dashboard is associated with displays by default.

Neither the Outlook user interface nor the Outlook object model provide a way to change the icon of an Outlook Bar shortcut.

Note This functionality was added to Outlook 2002. Outlook , which contains a SetIcon method.
