SYMPTOMS

When you reply to a message that is in the Inbox of a secondary information store, the reply message remains in your Outbox. Personal Folders file (.pst) and additional mailboxes that are not the default delivery location are examples of secondary information stores.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you click to select the In folders other than the Inbox, save replies with original message check box, and the original message resides in the Inbox of a secondary information store.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, click to clear In folders other then the Inbox, save replies with original message check box. To do this:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-Mail Options.
  3. In the Save Messages box, click to clear the In folders other then the Inbox, save replies with original message check box.
  4. Click OK three times to save all changes.

MORE INFORMATION

The message is sent, but the saved copy is placed in the Outbox folder instead of the Sent Items folder or the Inbox folder.
