This article was previously published under Q250293

SYMPTOMS

When you change the Local Address Table (LAT) on a computer that is running Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server, you receive the following error message if you click OK or Apply to save the changes:

ISA server cannot save the properties

If you click Details, the following information is displayed:

Error: 0x80040376. The Operation failed.

However, if you delete an entry from the LAT table, you receive the following error message:

ISA server cannot delete the object

If you click Details, the following information is displayed:

Error: 0x80040376. The IP address IP_address is an internal address on a Publishing server. The server publishing rule Rule_Name forwards client requests to this IP address.

CAUSE

This error is caused by the Server Publishing Rule for an IP address that will not be in the LAT after you make the changes to the LAT. For example:

If the current LAT is 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254, and a Server Publishing Rule exists for a server with IP address of 192.168.1.11, when you delete 192.168.1.11 from the LAT, you cannot save your changes because of the Server Publishing Rule that is in place.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, either delete the Server Publishing Rule that is causing the error or make sure that the modified LAT includes the IP address of any server or servers that are being published.
