SYMPTOMS
When you are using a program that calls the default viewer for a Rich Text Format (RTF) file that contains an especially malformed control word in the file header, the program may not work properly or may generate a general protection (GP) fault.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
